Manufacturing

The mass production of furniture is one of the most difficult industrial processes to manage and control. The two most important "process inputs" are human labour and the raw materials that are converted into furniture. In each case a human being, a tree or even the animal that yielded a leather hide is a living biological being unique and considerably different than all others in its class.

With this diversity as the starting point the challenge is to create many pieces of furniture that are the same over days, months and often years of production.

O-Palier is convinced and is indeed founded on the value of evolution over revolution in our design process and as importantly in our business relationships. We have witnessed and we have experienced the great waste, inefficiency, losses and terrible product quality that are the by product of the revolution approach where a store, importer or even a manufacturer switches source of supply because the price, delivery and quality are not quite right.

WE KNOW THAT THE COSTS OF CHANGE ARE NOT FACTORED IN TO THESE DECISIONS AND THAT LEARNING CURVES AND RISKS WHICH ARE APPRECIABLE ARE USUALLY OVERLOOKED.

Our integrated approach is to work through challenges, make changes which improves the result and ensure we are better tomorrow than we were yesterday. For this reason the O-Palier supply chain is stable and involves only one capable manufacturing partner and a long term commitment to positive evolution.

O-Palier works exclusively with Shing Mark Enterprises. This relationship is the result of many years of working together and ensures a supply chain that is stable, refined, cost efficient and responsive. Together with Shing Mark we have been able to remove duplication, establish quality standards in our supply chain and therefore reliably and cost effectively deliver design, engineering, quality control, logistics and risk management services to our retail partners.

Shing Mark in China is a modern, multi-site, diverse manufacturer of wooden, metal, marble and upholstered furniture , often using these material in combination.
